Writing Movies is an accessible introduction to the art and craft of writing for the screen. Over 8 weeks you will develop and workshop your idea for a feature film with the guidance of UEA creative writing tutor Dr. Ian Nettleton. By the end of the course you will have worked your idea into a treatment and have begun the first draft of your screenplay. The course will also point you towards further study and development opportunities.

BRITISH FILM FROM THE 1940s TO THE PRESENT DAY
From Olivier's Henry V to The Full Monty, from Carry On Up the Khyber to Atonement and Pride and Prejudice to Bridget Jones’ Diary, British films can be seen as inseparable from considerations of class. This course will aim to gain an understanding of why this is so in an enjoyable journey through the decades.

Ever wanted to learn more about film but weren’t sure where to start? Do the words auteur and film noir make you wish you’d paid more attention in French class? Well fear not, because on this popular entry-level course you will be guided through the basics of film theory with clips from a wide range of films. There will also be opportunities to view and discuss films in the current Cinema City programme.
