One man’s role in the long battle to outlaw slavery in the United Kingdom sets the stage for this powerful historical drama. In 1784 William Wilberforce was elected to the House of Commons and soon established himself as a politician with a conscience. When his close friend William Pitt became Prime Minister together they made a bold plan to introduce a bill banning slavery before the English legislature, which was only the beginning of a hard-fought battle to end the slave trade.

This screening supports a month long programme of activities and exhibitions at NORWICH CATHEDRAL commemorating the bicentenary of the abolition of the Trans-Atlantic slave trade in 1807. Follow your visit to Cinema City with a visit to DARK Heritage -a 3D soundscape installation at NORWICH CATHEDRAL.
