On 7 August 1974, Philippe Petit stepped out on a wire suspended between the World Trade Centre’s twin towers, at the time the world’s tallest buildings. After an hour of dancing on the wire, with no safety net or harness, he was arrested and imprisoned. MAN ON WIRE brings Petit’s extraordinary adventure and intoxicating spirit to life through the testimony of all the co-conspirators who created the single, beautiful spectacle that became known as “the artistic crime of the century”.
Before the film, Cinema City’s Education Manager will look at the future of specialist cinema exhibition in an increasingly unpredictable and competitive marketplace.
